EAGLE ROCK HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR CLASS OFFICERS
HAUNTED HOUSE FUNDRAISER
As President of the Senior Class Officers of 2013 at Eagle Rock High School, I was part of the executive team in developing a massive fundraiser that is now a sustainable fundraiser for following classes to follow. We developed, planned, and executed the annual haunted house that was hosted on October 20th, 2011 and Saturday, October 13, 2012 at the local lodge, the Fraternal Order of Eagles (1596 Yosemite Drive, Los Angeles 90041). Approximately 800 people attend the event in 2011 and over 1,000 people attended in 2012. The planning of the Haunted House began in August with promotional posters and layout ideas of each room and theme. Construction for props and decoration began during the summer months preceding the event. The Haunted House was installed in just four days by the set up crew which consisted of 65 students, including myself. In order to maximize the profitability of the fundraiser, much of the burden of the overlying cost was placed on the shoulders of the officers of the class of 2013 and the sponsors. Makeup and costumers were provided and purchased by the students. At the exit of the Haunted House, candy was given away and reviews were taken. Reviews were overwhelmingly positive, indicative by the repeat customers, some who entered 3 or 4 times. In 2011 the Senior Class raised over $2,000 from the event and in 2012 just over $8,000. In 2013 the Senior Class Officers followed our footsteps and held the third annual ERHS Haunted House on October 19th, 2013 with overwhelming results. |
